PB Acai Superfood Bowl

My obsession with acai bowls and smoothie bowls began while I was living in Southern California, close to Sambazon in Cardiff. I still remember my heart fluttering and tastebuds exploding while I took my first spoonful. It was love at first sight, really!

The creaminess of the acai, the crunchy granola, the freshness of fruit...mmm.

Now that I am living back in Ontario, Canada, finding acai bowls has become more challenging. Luckily I am able to find Sambazon superfruit frozen packs at Healthy Planet making it convenient and accessible to get creative in my kitchen. 

These bowls are so versatile that you can easily customize them, adding any of your favourite toppings, flavours, or even protein powders. 

This bowl here is a blend of Sambazon frozen acai, ViraOne Good Stuff chocolate chaga protein (by far the most delicious protein powder I've tried to date), and some added maca root powder by Organic Traditions, which I purchased at Healthy Planet. There is also homemade almond milk, a frozen banana, frozen berries, heaping tablespoon of peanut butter (any nut butter works well) in the mix. I topped this bowl with fresh strawberries and green apple slices, my pumpkin spice granola and cacao nibs.

All ingredients are placed into a high powered blender like a Vitamix, and blended until a creamy consistency. Once fully blended, pour into a bowl, and get creative with your toppings! I've used, coconut, honey, cinnamon, a variety of fruit, granola, nuts and seeds etc. in the past. 

PB Acai Superfood Bowl



  • 1 frozen unsweetened acai fruit pack 
  • 1-2 frozen bananas
  • Heaping tbsp nut butter (I used peanut butter)
  • 1/4-1/2 cup non-dairy milk such as almond or cashew (depending on consistency)
  • 3/4 cup of mixed frozen berries                 (strawberries, blueberries or cherries to add to the colour)
  • 1 scoop ViraOne Good Stuff
  • 2 tsp Maca Root powder
  • Toppings: granola, fresh fruit, cacao nibs, cinnamon


  1. Combine frozen acai, banana, nut butter, non-dairy milk, frozen fruit, protein powder and additional superfood powders into a high-powered blender until smooth.
  2. Pour into bowl and top with desired toppings.
  3. Sit down and Enjoy!
